Hello!

I’m a 20-something woman living in Toronto with an office job. I’m also interested in fashion.

Growing up, my Mom always talked about the styles of clothing she’d wear to her office job and her taste in clothes influenced mine. Her go-to stores are Banana Republic, the Gap, and Club Monaco.

In this blog I’ll post pieces of clothing I own or like as recommendations for anyone looking to buy some new work clothes. Most items are moderately priced, with some pieces a bit more on the pricey side.

Looking for ideas on tasteful (imho) women’s business clothing for the office? These are my ideas.

Blouses!

Ok, I have a few favourite button-down blouses that I like to wear to work. I don’t notice a ton of women wearing button-downs, and I’m not sure why – they’re very comfortable, usually available in a breathable fabric, and are often good quality. Here are some options.

Option 1: H&M

These shirts are light-weight and don’t wrinkle much, although they still need an iron. Because they’re so thin I often wear an undershirt with them. The best part? They’re $20. Despite the fair price I’ve found they last pretty long as well.

I’ve posted a picture of a black shirt that I purchased today. I’ve noticed that not many stores offer black button-down shirts, but I think they’re quite nice.

However, if you’re not a fan of black they come in lots of other colours (even though I don’t see them online right now) such as light pink, a light blue and white stripe, and white.

Name: Fitted Shirt

Price: $19.00

Option 2: J Crew

Such a classic. For some reason the J Crews in Canada seem to be closing and so I haven’t been going to J Crew as much lately. However, they make good quality solid cotton shirts.

Name: Slim Stretch Perfect Shirt

Price: $92.50

Option 3: Banana Republic

Another classic! Unlike J Crew, Banana Republic seems to be thriving in Toronto so there’s lots of stores to choose from. BR’s button-down shirts are also great quality and comfortable. And, any price you see online is probably on sale in-store.

Name: Riley Tailored-Fit Shirt

Price: $69.50 (but look out for promotions).

Shoes!

My current favourite ballet flats are by Sam Edelman. They are minimalist, very flattering, and come in a variety of colours. They are also quite comfortable although as a ballet flat they probably don’t have the best support. They are on the pricey side and seem to keep getting more expensive, but they are my go-to shoes for now.

Brand: Sam Edelman, Felicia

Price: $135
